Don't Count Your Chickens!

I stayed up til 4 AM talking to my Best Fren Forever on Skype. I'm a little on the sleepy side, but it was super fun and therefore worth it. (Just don't expect me to form any proper sentences today.)

I got up, showered, went upstairs to let Cordy out and make my lunch to take with me to work. Halfway between spreading hummus on the second piece of bread and applying the reduced fat provalone cheese (that's right... APPLYING), I noticed that I was hearing quite a bit more of the outside noises than I usually hear when Cordy is out. The screen door was cracked.

I walked around the corner and peeked at the door to discover this:

Fool cat. Maybe you shouldn't try to get in the house. You might get your head caught.

Just sayin.

And he expected me to COMFORT him after I freed his fool head! (Which I may or may not have done.... <_< >_>)

I finished my creating my piece of sandwich art, cut up a nectarine and put it in the fridge for later.

I had walked back downstairs when I heard my phone chime. I had an email. I opened it only to be disappointed. It was from "people.com".

"How on earth? What? I do not care about you, people.co......"

And then I saw the headline:

"Getting to Know Ryan Reynolds...."

I opened the email and saw the WHOLE headline:

"Getting to Know Ryan Reynolds New Gal Agnes Fischer"

JUMPING TO CONCLUSTIONS FAIL!!!

Is there a moral to this story?

Yes. Make sure your front door is secured so the cat can't get in. (Didn't see that coming, did ya?)

You're welcome.

A List

This morning, I awoke at 5:30 AM. I had been participating in a particularly awful night of "sleep" (if that's what you want to call it) and my stomach was the culprit.

Dear Stomach,
I have no idea what I did to you yesterday. I made sure to stay away from any form of vanilla frappucinno, so I do not understand what your deal is. Please stop.

Love,
Me

I had JUST drifted to sleep when I awoke and found myself in a dead sprint in the direction of the bathroom...in the dark. As if the mental picture of me running isn't enough, imagine me doing it ASLEEP, then WAKING UP, while RUNNING, in the DARK.

I'm just thankful that Cordy hadn't left any doggie toys in the middle of the living room. It's almost as if she could sense the bowel storm brewing. (Good dog, Cordy.)

All my plans to get up and exercise at 6:45 were trashed in favor of going back to bed with my heating pad and trying to catch some of this thing they call "sleep".

7:45 arrived way too fast. I got up and took a shower. It was fast and chilly, but I only had my lazy butt to blame. I was standing there, sopping wet, and I was just sad. (Lack of sleep does this to me.) I wasn't like "Oh my goodness, my day is RUINED" sad, I was just "Oh dear, this is all extremely unpleasant" sad. But then Phil Collins came on the radio (he always saves the day) and my Mom called.

It cheered me right up!

So I thought I would compile a list of things that never fail to make me happy. (Besides my family and friends. They're just a given!)

Jesus (He's a given as well, but I felt the need to put it out there.)

What can I say about Jesus? Words will never be enough to describe who He is. He is my Saviour. He is my Healer. He is a Friend that sticks closer than a brother. He is my Provider. I can't even start to scratch the surface!!!

***********************************************************************
I'm going to put a long pause here because everything else on my list just seems so silly in comparison. (If you can even call it "comparison".)
***********************************************************************

Less important list of things that make me happy (in no particular order):

Phil Collins music

I don't know when the whole Phill Collins thing started. Probably when I was a little kiddo and my parents watched *gasp* MTV!!! Anyone else remember being little and slightly creeped out by the "In the Air Tonight" video? Anyone???

Anyway, his voice is just very comforting to me. Don't judge.

Dylan Moran stand up

I know I talk way too much about this guy, but he makes me laugh sooooo hard. I just wish he wouldn't use the "F" word so dang much! (But maybe it's a good thing that he does, otherwise my FB friends would have their newsfeeds clogged with YouTube videos ALL THE TIME!!!) He is hyperbole king, hence his adorable charm. I would make him dinner.

Hillsong/Hillsong United/Joel Houston

Hillsong music always makes me feel better. On a WHOLE OTHER level than the previously mentioned things. It doesn't matter what is wrong, if I pop in the "I Heart Revolution" DVD, I AM going to feel better in a matter of minutes. It might make me cry, it might make me dance. You just never know which reaction it is going to produce.

And Joel Houston serves as a wonderful reminder that there ARE still men out there who are completely sold out to God. Godly AND good looking, It's a win win! (I would make him dinner as well!)

Seasons

I'll admit it. I am a SUCKER for all the different seasons. I just love them all. There's something to be thankful for in every single one of them. (Obviously, Spring is coming, so I drew Spring!) The romantic in me gets excited for when I will have someone special to share the seasons with.

Feeling pretty

I did my makeup this morning and I feel pretty. I also don't feel comfortable (or succeed) in taking a "pretty" picture, so here's a better (silly) one.

The lighting isn't the greatest, but you get the idea.

There are many other things that make me happy, but these were just things that were on my mind today.

What are some things that make you happy?

100!!!

Well, I'm blogging today because Liz and Staci miss me. Tee hee! (And I noticed that this would be blog #100!)

I had a good lunch at Amics today with Liz (Staci works there, so that's how I got to score seeing her too) and we talked about my blog. I told her about how I seem to be having a hard time finding where I fit with myself.

One part of me likes to over exaggerate and be sarcastic. One part of me really wants to be positive. (Believe it or not.)

How do you find an inbetween when those two things seem to be so VASTLY different?

I have no answers...

But what I DOOOOO have is a new toy!

A few weeks ago, I put on my Facebook that I wanted to get a drawing tablet. I asked for opinions on which one to get. Almost every one told me to get a Wacom Bamboo. And then I had a friend text me and ask me if I wanted hers.

So, basically through the insane generosity of a friend of mine, I scored a $150+ piece of equipment for free. WOOT!

I got it installed last night (Finally! My netbook doesn't have a CD drive) and I decided to mess around with it since I had the day off. Here's what I came up with.

^^^ That one's me... as if you know another girl on this blog with pink hair...

This tablet makes it look like I'm ARTISTIC!!!

Gotta love technology!

FUN TIMES!

I've been thinking about how to approach this blog today. All I could think of was just attacking it head on, so here goes.

I need to apologize for being so PMS-y and gripy and complainy for the last few days. (It was brought to my attention that I was being a complainer and I don't want to be labeled as such, so I need to stop.)

Sometimes I like to use lots of hyperbole and over exaggerate situations to be funny. Yes, some parts of the last few entries were just for laughs, but some of it was truly complaining.

So I'm sorry. My bad. I will do my best to not let it happen again.

Many ugly things have reared their ugly heads in the last week or so. These are things that I had quite happily allowed to scab over but they're starting to bleed again rather heavily.

I got out of town Wednesday night and yesterday so that helped a lot. Spent some time with three of my favorite people (Mom, Dad, and Fren) and they set me straight. I told my mom that I think I need to get some counseling. "I need counseling to get over my LAST counseling..."

I need to get past things in my past that I'm not proud of and I need to make sure they don't happen again.

I need to be held accountable.

Fren really made me think long and hard about some things yesterday and it was just the kick in the pants that I needed. Per usual, change is going to be hard, but it's going to be worth it.

Aside from all the talks I had while away, I had a TON of FUN! (Even the talks were fun though.)

Let's just say if I could have a day like yesterday every day of my life, it would be GRAND. (I mean seriously, from start to finish it was just an incredible day.)

Maybe it was so grand because it was SPECIAL.

I think I'm going to take a break from the blog for awhile. If anyone misses it, I might come back.

For Fren

This is a non-complaining post! :)

Ummmmm...

Nothing starts your day off on the right foot like a customer busting through the door at 9:05 to verbally assault you.

He wouldn't stop to draw breath. He was using what I'm sure to him are big words like "crucial" and "critical" and "must". Calm down dude. "You need to breathe. It just needs programmed. I need some info first."

See, he wanted to rush in, give me the tongue lashing of my life and then run back out. He was expecting me to get it fixed but he ALSO wanted me to be a mind reader.

Sometimes customers do this really charming thing where they expect you to remember them and everything about their particular case. (The sad thing is that I DID remember this guy because he was such a spaz. I remembered the name, password, and email address for his Palm profile even! But when they're acting like big babies, I like to slow down the pace a little and play dumb.) I wrote very slowly. Taking in each letter and making it look beautiful on my scratch sheet of paper. (I wish I'd had the presence of mind to make a mistake, cross it out, and then start all over on another sheet.)

I REALLY wanted to do THIS: (Fast forward to 0:50, but really the whole thing is hilarious.)

Now, I know I'm making myself look like a horrible customer service representative. But you know, the saying goes "If you go into a place of business yelling at someone on the other side of the counter, how much help do you think you're going to get?"

NOT A LOT.

Just sayin.

After I got the information I needed, he ran out the door. I seriously just needed to hit 4 buttons. It was NOT a big deal. It probably took more time to get the info straightened out than it did to fix the problem that this dude was busting a gut about. (Because he was being less than clear... imagine that)

All that craziness ("I NEED IT DONE YESTERDAY!!!") and then when I called and texted the number he gave me (per his request), I got no response.

Moral of the story: CHILL OUT!!!

(And be nice to customer service representatives!!!)
