Ok. Yesterday, I started a new weight loss plan. (Again)
High protein Low carb Minimal gluten intake Exercise
Yesterday morning, I ate a scrambled egg and some fiber cereal with skim milk for breakfast. For most people, this is not revolutionary. For me it is because I haven't really eaten breakfast since I was 12. It hurt my tummy to eat that early in the morning. (I was just feeding it the wrong stuff, but that's neither here nor there.)
After that breakfast, I felt very good! Lots of energy. And I didn't even want any lunch until at LEAST 1:30. At that time, I ate half of a protein bar. I snacked on a few peanuts around 4:00.
After I got home (after 6:30ish), I went on a walk around my neighborhood. Fortunately for ME, guess who lives in my neighborhood? LIBBY PARKER!!! (Rynie does, too, but I didn't get to see him.) I stopped to catch a breath and said hi to my pal. (She was making french fries. I hadn't experienced that level of jealousy for QUITE awhile, let me just tell you.) After a good visit, I returned home and made another egg (this time with some black bean and corn salsa) for dinner. I went to bed happy in the tum tum area. (I wasn't bloated or gassy, which for me is quite the feat.) TMI? Get over it.
I sat in my bed and did some surfing of the internets and before I knew it, I was out like a light. I had "gone to bed" looking semi adorable in my summer jammies and I had my hair all pulled back.
I must've slept very well last night, because for some reason, I felt it necessary to sleep ALL over my bed. (Even though I became single again over 2 years ago, my body still feels the need to stay on the right side of the bed.) I don't know why I was all over the place.
I had the craziest dreams last night. Jim Sturgess was involved, so it wasn't ALL that terrible. And I think Fren, Kristin, Libby, and Justin all showed up for some reason. It was fun. I don't remember any particulars though, so that's sad. I remember that in-between dreams I was fighting my body pillow, Manfred Von Pillowhoffen. (Kristin bought it for me last year because I was sad sleeping alone. How sweet is that?) I was WRESTLING and KICKING and BEATING that thing in my sleep. I don't know why.
I woke up this morning looking like a monster truck.
Obviously, the only cure was going to be a hot shower and oatmeal.
Mmmmmmm!!! Just what the doctor ordered. (No makeup and no hair did. Yeah. It's hawt.)
I was happy as a king, just sitting there with my pup and eating my oatmeal.
It's the simple pleasures in life, folks.
Hopefully I can keep this up. I enjoy feeling better, and looking better (hopefully) so I'm sure I will be able to continue with this.
(And Mom is making me FISH for dinner tonight. JACKPOT!!!!!)
Can we take a moment to talk about compliments/nosiness today? K, thanks.
Never underestimate the power of a compliment. Never underestimate the power of saying something nice to someone instead of saying something not as nice.
Which would you rather hear? (And these are both true things I have had someone say to me at work.)
"You look very nice today! Is it a special occasion?"
or
"You look normal! What's wrong?"
(OK, that wasn't a fair example because the second one really DID make me laugh.)
I think we'd all rather hear that we look nice vs. thinking that if you look like a normal human being, people are ready to throw you in hospital.
This morning, I had a long time customer tell me "Wow! You're looking really skinny these days! You need to eat a sandwich." (I guess he really meant it, because he brought me breakfast this morning.)
Now, let's dissect the first part of that comment. "Wow! You're looking really skinny these days!" That can either mean 1) "Dude. I was wondering when you'd slim down. You were looking quite porktastic there for awhile." or 2) "Whoa! You are really looking nice!" Let's hope the person on the receiving end of that comment takes it as the 2nd option, as I did. Also, let me add that the "You need to eat a sandwich." was uncalled for. He should have just stopped at the first statement.
In saying the above, I feel that I also need to point out that I don't need your advice on my personal life either.
"Who's that on your wallpaper?" "That's me and my best fren." "Is he GAY?" "NO! What the heck-" "Is he your BOYfriend?" "No. He's-" "WHY ISN'T HE YOUR BOYFRIEND?" "Because he isn't." "Is he stupid?" "What the? No! Why are you-" "Because if he isn't stupid, he'd be dating you." "IT'S NOT LIKE THAT! HE'S MY FREN-" "You should ask him out." "ABSOLUTELY NOT! GOOD DAY, SIR!" "But-" "I. SAID. GOOD. DAY!"
(All of the above is an actual conversation I had with someone on Saturday, minus the "GOOD DAY!"s... but that would've been awesome.)
I don't remember how I threw that customer off the trail. I think I made something up about me having a real boyfriend. (That's right, folks. Renaldo is baaaaack!)
The point is, I shouldn't have to justify my dress or my personal life to customers. I love (most of) you dearly, but please keep your pointers to yourself. It's exhausting.
...But feel free to bring me breakfast and tell me how smokin' hot I am. I mean, who DOESN'T like food and extolment first thing in the morning?
(I can put a cuss word on my blog because I was QUOTING someone, so don't get your panties all in a knot.)
I woke up this morning feeling really heavy. I don't like that feeling. Actually, it's probably #23 on my list of least favorite feelings. (#1 being stepping in a unseen puddle of water whilst wearing socks.)
I am in SUCH a weird place. Yeah, you know. I've been saying that since October. Still there, but it keeps getting weirder. I can't really describe it. It's not "the calm before the storm" because I don't feel like a storm is coming. I just feel like I'm on the edge, like something is about to happen. But I have no clue what or who or when or how.
I'm super calm about it, but super not calm at the same time. I feel calm in my heart, but my mind is running like an insane hamster and foaming at the mouth.
I got up, turned on my Pandora and got in the shower before I noticed what station it was on. It was on my Sarah McLachlan station.
Now, don't get me wrong. I LOVE Sarah, I really do. But she's not something I listen to when I want something uplifting. (Ryan calls it "Sad Bastard Music".) I listen to Sarah when it's raining or I'm with Fren or I need nice sleeping or background music.
I already had shampoo in my hair when I heard the first chord. It was tooooo late.
And it really had to be THAT song? Really Pandora?
Yeah.
That song sums it up on so many different levels, it's not even funny. And I mean honestly, the song didn't even bother me all that much until I got an email...
It was entitled "Good Morning, NewSpring!" and it was from Pastor Mark. I was all "YEAH! This will make me feel better!" Nope. It was reminding us that the new sermon series "Vows" is starting today.
You guessed it, it's about MARRIAGE.
So I am determined to go to church today and push through. I am not going to think about Sarah McLachlan, or that one guy I was married to that one time, or how I failed at one of the most important things in life.
I'm going to get through this.
The thing is, I thought I WAS through this. It just keeps rearing it's ugly head from time to time. Do you ever really get over something like divorce? Or does it just scab over? Does the pain ever fully go away? Or does it just dull?
It doesn't define me, yet I am painfully aware and conscious of it.
I know change is coming. I know something great is going to happen. I know I'm going to look back at this and go "OOOOHHH!!! So THAT'S what God was doing while I felt like I was losing my mind."
It's just that I don't like the "Losing my mind" stage, and it's uncomfortable.
But it's not unbearable.
P.S. I got to see my brother and Bryce today. They came to see me at work. They got to witness my insanely incredible communication skills while dealing with a difficult to understand customer. You should ask them about it.
