Random Thoughts Post

I don't really have anything of consequence to say today. Just a bunch of random things.

I was getting ready for work this morning, and after I put my makeup on, I found a tube of cherry chapstick. (First person to start singing "I Kissed a Girl" is going to be frowned at. Hard.) When I wear the above mentioned lip balm, it has almost a time machine effect. I'm suddenly 4 and wearing a jumper and pigtails again. Maybe it's because I miss those times... so much.

I started glancing around my bathroom and I thought "What else have I loved for a long time and is a comfort of sorts? What else in this bathroom brings back fond memories?"

The first Alphonse Mucha poster I ever bought. I fell for it hard. I had to have it. Someday, I will have a nice frame for it. (That gold frame is soooo cheap and gross.) But for right now, I just remember May of 2006 and having my first apartment and being SOOOO proud to have my first "real" piece of artwork to hang on my bathroom wall. It livened up the room and made it feel homey. It wasn't just some place I lived instead of my Mom and Dad's anymore. It was my first home.

Sorry, this one isn't black and white. I hate being inconsistent, but I loved the color in this one. The Goo Goo Dolls. Enough said. This has always been one of my favorite lines from a song. Ever. It takes me back to May of '06, too. A Goo Goo Dolls CD was in my CD player the whole time I was moving into aforementioned "first apartment". Every time I hear that CD, I think of that day, May 5th. You may think I am being WAAAY too specific with my dates, but I even remember what I was wearing that day. I had been scheduled to have the whole day off, but I ended up having to go in and work until noon. My boyfriend met me at my parents with some McDonald's chicken nuggets (my favorite) and we loaded up the first (of many) loads in his truck. As soon as we pulled into the apartment complex, we felt the first raindrop. So yeah. Unhappy Katie was unhappy having to move in the rain, but later that night, we got engaged. So it all evened out. Haha. (The long version of that story is better. But it's long.)

This picture is one of my favorites ever. Kristin and I had just moved into her new house and we decided to give Cordy a bath. You can't really see it, but we gave her a mohawk once she was all lathered up. The look on her face is priceless.

Speak of the devil, look who was all excited to see me last night! Happiness is having a dog who misses you and makes you feel wanted and loved. :D

Today, I am thankful for the good memories in my life, but I'm also thankful for what's happening right now. It's important to not live in the past all the time. It's good to look back and be grateful for the good times, but if I hadn't moved on, I wouldn't have all the wonderful friends that I have now.

Sometimes you have to let go of what you have in order to get something better. :)
